Clippers happily deliver another blow to Lakers' playoff hopes
LOS ANGELES They never got a call or an email or even a text, and certainly not a meeting last summer. When LeBron James chose Los Angeles as the place to re-root his family and build his side hustle in entertainment and yes, contend for NBA championships, he never bothered to explain why he chose one L.A. team over the other.

Lonzo Ball (ankle) needs more recovery time

The Pelicans' peculiar situation reaches a pivot point

The Rockets' superstar saw his streak of consecutive 30-point games end at 32 on Monday after scoring "just" 28 in Houston's 119-111 win against the Hawks. That would not have been the case had Harden hit at least one of 10 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc.

A soul-crushing , franchise-worst 17-game losing streak is enough to dim even the brightest spirits in the game. Losing 50 of the 61 games your team plays its a deflating existence for any team. For the Phoenix Suns, this has summed up much of their season to date.

Mirotic makes a 'great' Bucks debut, re-adjusts quickly to East race
MILWAUKEE -- As a game, this one never did launch, with the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks slogging through 48 minutes of attrition. It was an ugly contest played by two rusty teams, the absence of rhythm from a weeklong All-Star break masquerading as pesky defense -- yeah, that's it, defense -- rather than off-kilter shooting.
